226 BYRD Ministry
“Start a youth out on his way; even when he grows old he will not depart from it.”
What does our name mean?
Our name 226 BYRD Student ministries comes from two places. 226 references Proverbs 22:6 which says “Start a youth out on his way; even when he grows old he will not depart from it.” We desire to start the youth of Federalsburg and the surrounding area out on the right path, the path of Christ. We do so through showing the love of Christ and preaching the word of God to 6th through 12th grade students.
The second part of our name BYRD comes from a nickname that locals call Federalsburg. At some point the old nickname of Burg or Burgtown transformed into Birdtown which was shortened to Bird which became Byrd. It is also an acronym for Building Youth in the Right Direction which again emphasizes our desire to point the youth of Federalsburg and the surrounding areas in the right direction. That is toward Christ.
Who are we?
226 BYRD Student Ministries is a youth group that is cooperatively run by a diverse Group of churches from the Federalsburg area. Marshyhope Church, Bridge Community Church, The River Church Delmarva, and The Blind Evangelist have decided to set aside our doctrinal differences and unify around our belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. We have banded together to bring the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to 6th through 12th grade students in the community of Federalsburg and the surrounding area.
What do we do?
226 BYRD Student Ministries meets on Friday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. We have a great time of fellowship, we play fun games and do other activities, we sometimes take trips to events together, we have snacks and we have a biblical lesson with practical applications to teach the youth about who we (mankind) are and who God is and how to live a life set apart to God.
